Half Day Menopause Update Session delivered via Zoom

The Menopause Course is delivered by Kathy Abernethy, Specialist Nurse and former Chair of the British Menopause Society.

Who is this session for? (PLEASE NOTE INFORMATION BELOW – SESSION IS AIMED AT NURSING STAFF AND PHARMACISTS IN PRIMARY CARE)

The menopause sessions are primarily aimed at practice and primary care nursing staff, working directly with women at and after menopause but can be useful for other clinical staff such as pharmacists and health care assistants. This half day course is a standalone session which will meet initial learning needs for most primary care nurses. It can be followed up with attendance at a half day session on HRT prescribing.

The session includes a presentation, case discussions and Q&A.

Learning Objectives:

· To appreciate the changes which occur as a result of the menopause and how to assess women at this time

· To increase understanding of Hormone Replacement Therapy, including a summary of risks and benefits and review of different types available.

· To be aware of non hormonal choices for treatment for menopausal symptoms
