Brief Description

Blood Borne Viruses continue to play a prominent role in the health profile of Tayside. Whilst there have been a number of exciting developments in BBV care and treatment, the general population are largely unaware of this, leading to high levels of unnecessary stigma. The session will provide a brief but comprehensive overview of BBVs (Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B and HIV) their transmission, and how to reduce risk.  We have designed this session to support your engagement with your team and with service users.

Learning Outcomes

  • Participants will be aware of BBVs and gain greater understanding of them. Will be able to explain what BBVs are, how they can be transmitted, and become familiar with current prevention methods
  • Participants will gain insight into the experience of living with a BBV, and explore their role in providing support along with reducing stigma which surrounds BBVs and those living with them
