Mpox is a rare viral infection that usually causes a high temperature (fever) and a body rash that lasts a few weeks.

As mpox is caused by a virus similar to the one that causes smallpox, vaccines designed for smallpox will help prevent or reduce the severity of mpox.

It is a 2-dose vaccination course, and a second dose of the vaccine can be given at least 28 days after the first. If you haven’t received your second dose, contact your local sexual health clinic to arrange an appointment. If you are based in Tayside, you can call 01382 425542 between 09:00 am – 12:00 pm Mon-Fri
